TOMORROWS WINE
$49.99
Country: Italy
Region: Tuscany
Type: Red Wine
Grape: Prugnole Gentile (Sangiovese)/Canaiolo/Mammolo
Prugnole Gentile is the variant of Sangiovese in and around Montepulciano and is the majority of this blend, as is traditional and required by law (70% minimum). All of the fruit is from organically farmed estate vines, many of them very old, and all of them tended carefully by Dora Forsoni on her 50-hectare family estate.
Farming is organic. The grapes are hand-harvested and destemmed but with many whole berries remaining intact; the fermentation with native yeasts and maceration in concrete is long and slow, as is the gentle pressing to get to the core of each berry (where Dora believes the sweetest part of the fruit lies). The wine is aged in botti (large barrels) for two years before bottling.
A sultry and alluring wine with aromas of dark red fruit, violets, and a hint of smoke. The palate is full and ripe, with slightly chewy tannins and plenty of acidity to keep it fresh.
