Axel Prüfer New Arrivals Tasting, 3-6PM
Alex Prüfer was born and raised in East Germany but moved to France to become a winemaker. He settled in the Languedoc region and works with minimal intervention, “zero-zero”, primarily with Grenache, Cinsault, Carignan and sometimes Chardonnay. Whether he likes it, or not, he has become a darling of the natural wine world. He is actually a very quiet, thoughtful, and engaging winemaker, totally committed to making fresh, energetic wines without added sulfur.
We are excited to be tasting 2 of his cuvées this Saturday - his production is so small we often don’t have enough wine to sell, let alone taste.
- 2024 Avanti Popolo is a beautiful and fresh blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Alicante Bouschet and Grenache Noir.
- 2024 Jalava is Cinsault from the rockiest part of his vineyard that sees a long 2-week maceration. As structure as Cinsault can be with blackcurrant fruits on the palate and a savory, restrained finish.
Private Tastings
We host private tastings in our shop, or we will come to your home! Our private wine tastings for up to 8 guests are hosted in our Wine Room. You will be guided through 4 different bottles of wine based on a theme of your choice, with light cheese/snacks to pair. Tastings usually last 1.5 - 2 hours.
