Maloof Wines is a husband-and-wife winery team based in Willamette Valley, Oregon, focused on producing single vineyard wines of "often overlooked or misunderstood white varieties," in addition to making some fun and funky cuvées of all colors.
Farming is is organic/biodynamic and vineyards are dry-farmed. The gris was fermented on the skins for 21 days. A small portion of that was fermented via carbonic maceration in a separate bin. The two lots of gris were pressed off together and put into neutral oak. The Riesling was direct pressed, and fermented in neutral oak barrels. All of the wine was then blended together and put back into barrel, where it went through malolactic fermentation. Bottled without fining or filtration and a minimum amount of sulfur at bottling.
Coral color, with pretty aromatics and notes of grapefruit, plum, and underripe strawberries, with a saline edge and touch of herbaceousness. Easy and refreshing.
