Brothers Guillaume and Charles Soulier make wines from fruit grown on their 8-hectare estate in Saint Hilaire d'Ozilhan, Gard. The vineyards are planted on limestone scree hills and rolled pebbles in the Rhône Valley between Nîmes and Avignon. Using organic viticulture, the brothers work the soil with horses while sheep and goats manage weeding. The wine undergoes minimal intervention winemaking with natural fermentation and light handling.
This is a "blanc de noirs" from old Grenache vines planted in 1958. Aged two years in barrel without any additions, it has a full, generous body, with an energetic backbone of acidity. Aromas of smoke and sea spray lead into candied citrus fruits. Fresh and lively on the palate, with a lengthy finish.
