Roughly translated, Kolfok means “unconventional thinker.” Winemaker and Kolfok in chief Stefan Wellanschitz was born into winemaking at the family's estate in Neckenmarkt, a winery that dates back to the early 19th century, to a time when this part of Burgenland was still Hungarian and not Austrian. This Neckenmarkt bottling comes from 3 vineyard sites grown on limestone, slate and granite. Organic farming. Traditionally fermented for 1 month in oak casks. 15% whole cluster. Aged in a 1200 liter barrel for 18 months before bottling. Unfined/Unfiltered.
Bright, elegant and mineral, with bright black fruit, spice, dried herbs, purple florals, deep forest floor and cracked black and white pepper.
