Country: France
Region: Jura
Type: Red Wine
Grape: Pinot Noir/Julien Crinquand Poulsard
Julien Crinquand takes care of 5 hectares of vines in the Arbois appellation, inherited from his father and grandfather. The vines are divided into 3 sectors: Bodines, Mailloche and Verleule, and include the traditional grape varieties, Savagnin, Chardonnay, Trousseau, Pinot and Poulsard. After some professional exploration, he chose to return to his native Jura and take charge of the precious family plots whose grapes were historically sold to the Arbois fruit farm. To improve his skills, Julien Crinquand followed training alongside Philippe Bornard and Fabrice Dodane, completing his BTS viti-oeno in 2017.
Like many winegrowers involved in the Jura wine renewal, Julien is part of a lineage which aims to promote the terroir while respecting the vines and nature. His farming is organic, and his winemaking in the cellar is based on the use of native yeasts, without any additions, thus preserving the finesse of his wines. Since the 2019 vintage, he has been flying solo, continuing his quest for the purest expression of the Jura terroirs.
All hand-harvested. Destemmed by hand, while berry maceration. Fermented in tank with indigenous yeasts. Aged 8 months in tank with no added sulfur.
