Country: USA
Region: Yolo County
Type: White Wine
Grape: Chenin Blanc
Chenin Blanc for Craig Haarmeyer's Vieux Chenin comes from the Baranek Vineyard located in a land-locked portion of central Clarkburg in silty clay loam soils. It’s the oldest planting of Chenin in the Clarksburg AVA (late 1960s) by the first people to plant grapes in Clarksburg. In 1960 they planted Chenin Blanc and Colombard. John Baranek identified and petitioned for the creation of the Clarksburg AVA.. Hand harvested, basket pressed to tank in order to settle overnight. Malolactic fermentation occurred spontaneously and the wine was bottled without fining or filtering.
Super clean and fresh with green apples, pears, plantains and both yellow and white flowers, this wine has great natural acidity. One of the most complex California Chenins we have come across.
