This historic estate of Domaine Chandon de Briailles was established in 1834. In 1988, Claude de Nicolay took over from her mother as winemaker—a mother to daughter legacy, not often seen in winemaking. The estate has been fully biodynamic since 2005 and organic since 1998. The winemaking incorporates a large percentage of whole cluster fermentation, making quality “vin de garde”—or wines meant to keep. Domaine Chandon de Briailles has become one of the most sought-after producers in the Côte D’Or, known for its classically styled, terroir-driven Burgundies that age beautifully.
François de Nicolay is the negociant project of Chandon de Briailles domaine. This project allows them to expand their repertoire of wines where they work naturally. For these wines, François uses grapes that are certified organic or biodynamic. Vinification and aging are conducted naturally without any additives. The wines are delicious, pure, and elegant.
This fruit comes from a single vineyard in the village of Rully, in southern Burgundy. Bright citrus notes are matched by fresh cream, quince and nutty undertones.
