Chateau de Beru is a 400 year old domaine making some of the best terroir in Chablis, but for centuries the potential of the beautiful 17th century estate went unrealized until  the 1980's, when Count Eric de Beru replanted the vines including the unique walled vineyard, Clos Beru. When he became ill, the vineyards were rented and the grapes sold to the cooperative until his daughter Athénais took over in 2006.

Since then, Athénais has been working the 15 hectares of vines using biodynamic methods in this incredible terroir, with calcareous-clay soils of the Kimmeridgian era (with deposits of fossilised oysters dating back 150+ million years) at 300 metres above sea level, using natural methods including horses rather than tractors, with no additives in the cellar.

The Orangerie is a half-hectare plot, located at the top of the hill of Beru. The clos, whose walls are built from the old ramparts of the castle, enjoys a special micro-climate, facing south and protected from the wind. Beautiful aromas or citrus, bergamot, caerdamom. Well-integrated acidity, fruit and minerality, with a seamless texture that envelops the rich and generous palate.
