The Clajeux Vineyard is located on a steep volcanic hillside overlooking a secluded valley in the Chalk Hill region of Sonoma County. The vines here were planted in 1999 by Don and Carolyn Vogt, who saw the potential of this site for growing world-class Cabernet Sauvignon. Since 2003, Arnot-Roberts has worked with the same 14 rows in this vineyard, and have found that this fruit yields their most elegant Cabernets, with incredible depth of color, varietal flavor, and refined, streamlined tannins and acidity. The wines from this site are approachable in their youth, but still possess the framework for long-term cellaring.
Vineyards are farmed using organic and sustainable methods. The grapes were fermented using 100% whole cluster with native yeasts and aged in neutral, French oak for 11 months. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
A classic mountain Cabernet Sauvignon with a good structure and body and notes of dusty wild berries. Fresh and energetic wine with striking minerality.
