Country: France
Region: Loire
Type: White Wine
Grape: Chenin Blanc
The Savennieres appellation occupies a small area (just 150 hectares) south of the city of Angers. Some of the great wines of France are produced here from the sandy soils (Aeolian sand) that sit over a shale base. This is a dry Chenin Blanc from a tiny plot of land that is less than half a hectare, thus there is very little of this wine available. Farming is organic/biodnamic.
The grapes were pressed gently and then allowed to undergo natural fermentation in used wooden barrels. This is a rich, complex, and highly sought-after Chenin.
