Jacquesson is small producer based in Dizy, Champagne, founded in 1798 by Memmie Jacquesson. The 28-hectare domaine comprises 11 hectares in Avize and Oiry, 13 hectares spread over Aÿ, Hautvillers, Dizy and Mareuil-su-Aÿ and a further 4 hectares in the Vallée de l'Ardre (a tributary of the Vesle, north-west of the Marne). Their wines are made using 78% of grapes from their own estate, with the rest of the fruit purchased from growers they know well.
Current owners, brothers, Jean-Hervé and Laurent Chiquet place a huge emphasis on the quality of the vineyards. Recently methods have changed to be organic, and almost all Jacquesson wines ferment in old, large-sized oak barrels, which yield little wood aroma to the wine.
This cuvee 745 is based on the 2017 vintage and made up of a blend of 50% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Meunier, and 25% Pinot Noir. A little more bright and vibrant than the 744, with notes of poached pear, baked apple, grapefruit, lemon rind and toasted nuts. Fine bubbles with crisp acidity and a pure, fruit core.
