Elisabetta Foradori has become one of Italy’s superstar winemakers. Without a doubt, she is Italy’s finest producer of wines made from the Teroldego grape variety, one of the country’s oldest and finest traditional grapes. The Teroldego grape is genetically related to Syrah, and here in the northern Trentino’s mountain valleys it achieves its potential in the subzone known as the Campo Rotaliano. All the Foradori vineyards lie in the side valley of Campo Rotaliano, and it is from these beautiful vineyards that Elisabetta Foradori is quietly producing some of Italy’s most complex, deep and compelling red wines.

100% Teroldego. Local dialect for "dark", "Morei" is a warmer, stonier 2.5 hectares within the whole Foradori vineyard around the winery on the Campo Rotaliano plateau in the foothills of the Dolomites. Elisabetta planted the vines in guyot from massale cuttings in 1984. The farming is certified-biodynamic and the harvest is done by hand. The bunches are de-stemmed, with the grapes going directly into clay amphorae for an open-top, spontaneous fermentation without sulfur; the vessels are then closed for 6-8 months of maceration. After a brief couple of months in concrete off of the skins, the "normal" Morei wine would then be bottled. But for the special "Cilindrica" version, a small portion of Morei is instead racked off its skins directly into a cylindrically shaped, smaller-capacity vessels for a full year of additional aging. The wine is then bottled unfiltered without sulfur. It is released about 2 years after the regular Morei bottling.

Aromatically intense, with purity of red and blue fruit and hints of fresh violets, savory herbs, white pepper and savory, citrus undertones.
