Jean François ("Jeff") Coutelou works 13 hectares of vines in the town of Puimisson which is located just north of Béziers in the Languedoc (southern France). The farm has been certified organic since 1987. Old, nearly extinct grape varieties are co-planted on his property, intricately trained and in tune with the various soil types. Jeff has created a vast polycultural environment, replanting trees and bands of ancient flowers and grains, rescuing insects and the rich microbial life of the soil. His wines are always refreshing and very drinkable.

A single-varietal wine made with organically grown grapes from a vineyard, wher not chmicals have been applied in the last 30 years. All grapes are hand-harvested, only indigenous yeast is used and the wine is fermented and aged in clay amphorae. This is considered Mas Coutelou's most serious red wine, medium bodied with a fluid structure and silky tannins. Fruity aromas, spicy earthy notes on the palate with hints of worn leather.
