40 years ago, Hermann Krutzler bottled the first of his high quality wines, with distinctive style and character. His son Reinhold adopted this pioneering spirit and created the master blend, Perwolff, with his father and brother, Erich, in the 1990s, thereby ushering in a new era for Austrian reds that have since become successful all over the world. The next generation is now continuing this successful journey with Clemens Krutzler, who, at just 21 years of age, is breaking from the mold and experimenting with varying maceration times for his Welschriesling and Blaufränkisch-based wines. All wines are raised sur lie in used oak barrels – a rarity here. The entire process is low intervention, with the goal of creating a new style of wines that are serious yet full of lightness, liveliness, and refreshing elegance.
This light, chillable co-ferment hovers between a rosé and a light red. Fresh, with crisp acidity, subtle spice and depth.
