TOMORROWS WINE
$36.99
Country: France
Region: Loire
Type: White Wine
Grape: Sauvignon Blanc
Laika is made from a small plot of old Sauvignon Blanc located in le Clos de la Roche in Faye d'Anjou, along with the first clusters from contiguous young vines. The old vines of le Clos de la Roche were among the first Sauvignon blanc in Anjou in the early 1960s and were planted on the top of a schist slope. This is one of the very few remaining sauvignon blanc vineyards still planted on schist rock soil in the area (this is not the normal way of doing things in the Anjou, where Sauvignon Blanc typically gets planted on lesser, lower soils). Hand harvesting, gentle pneumatic pressing, fermentation and aging in barrels, sandstone amphora and tank.
Elegant and mineral, with floral, honeysuckle, nut and fresh herb aromatics. The palate has wonderful texture and fine acidity.
Pierre's wines are super limited.
