Nearly equal parts Valdiguié, Zinfandel, Petit Sirah, and Carignan, with a touch of Tannat and Pinot Noir to finish, Cruse's flagship red blend is light, bright, and juicy, with floral and red fruit aromas, notes of raspberry tart, summer flowers, and bramble. Supple structure, crunchy acidity and a refreshing finish.
Approximately 20% of the blend was fermented whole cluster. All of the grapes were fermented in concrete and then pressed into older French oak barrels, a few puncheons, concrete tanks, and a small amount of stainless steel. Malolactic occurred naturally with the wine receiving a light sulfur addition immediately before bottling.
