Country: Italy
Region: Friuli
Type: Orange Wine
Grape: Ribolla Gialla
Josko Gravner is a pioneer of natural winemaking and one of the foremost champions of traditional and ancient methods in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Made from biodynamically-farmed Ribolla Gialla, a native grape of the region, this wine displays Gravner's commitment to authenticity and terroir-driven winemaking. Sourced from the steep hills of Oslavia in the Collio area, the vines are grown in mineral-rich marl and sandstone soils, which impart a distinctive character to the wine.
Following Gravner's typical approach, the grapes undergo extended maceration on the skins in large Georgian amphorae buried undergroud for five months in order to allow for natural temperature control and the slow extraction of color, tannins and flavors. The wine then ages for six years in large oak barrels before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.
A layered and complex wine with aromas of persimmon, nutmeg, cinnamon, orange peel, and hints of caramel., honey and apricot. Full-bodied, dry and layered with notes of dried apricots and pears, with a fine, silky texture and a deep finish.
