Jean-Marc Pillot is the fourth generation of his branch of the Pillot family to tend vineyards in Chassagne Montrachet. He joined his father, Jean, in 1985 to learn the craft of “vigneron”. After six years of working side-by-side, Jean-Marc assumed the direction of the domaine in 1991 with the assistance of his wife, Nadine, and his sister, Beatrice.
This village, more recently known for its White Burgundy, used to be planted mostly to red grapes before many growers replanted to Chardonnay. Chassagne-Montrachet offers some fantastic examples of classical Red Burgundy, some at a more reasonable price than it's more notable and expensive neighbors.
Fruit for this wine comes from 55+ years old vineyards. Robust and intense, with black cherry notes. Organic farming. Unfiltered.
