Catherine Riss grew up in hospitality, with her parents running restaurants in Alsace throughout her childhood. After completing her schooling, she studied viticulture and Oenology in Beaune and Dijon, interning with Jean Louis Trepat, followed by extensive travel working in France and overseas. Catherine’s return to Alsace was with Chapoutier in 2009, who was establishing a presence in Reichsfeld. This provided Catherine with invaluable experience, understanding the terrain, the climate, the cellar conditions and also the chance to befriend other vignerons.

In 2012 she purchased 1.3 hectares and began her own domain, assisted by Antoine Kreydenweiss and Lucas Rieffel in the early years, until 2015 when she established her own cellar in Bernardville. She now has 4 hectares, all located around the village of Reichsfeld, approximately 40 minutes south west of Strasbourg. All farming is done organically, and with the goal of creating diversity in the vineyard.

This wine is 100% Riesling, bottled in 2019. Wild yeast fermentation and aging in neutral barrels. Zero/zero. Aromas and flavors of Meyer lemons, grapefruit, lime, mint and thyme. Complex mineral depth and tension.
