Evangelho is an organically-farmed, old-vine vineyard in Contra Costa county, composed of own-rooted Zinfandel, along with Carignan, Mourvedre, Palomino, Muscat and Chasselas, planted in 1890 on deep alluvial sands.
Winemaker Nathan Kandlerr's mission is to translate the richness of the soil from this special vineyard into the glass, through the use of native yeasts, whole cluster fermentations, minimal sulfur and a careful use of neutral French oak.
Aromas of creamy boysenberry and black cherry, with pink flowers, citrus, incense spice, and licorice; the palate exudes both perfect ripeness and fresh acidity, with juicy black and dark red fruits, licorice, vanilla. Medium- to full-bodied with lush tannins and a long, mineral finish.
