Type: Red Wine
Located in the Langhe region of Piedmont,Barbaresco sits high above the Tanaro River, where wine grapes grow alongside truffles, hazelnuts and chestnuts. The family of owner/winemaker Renato Vacca has lived in this region for more than 100 years, and their Barbaresco vineyards range from 35 to 70 years in age, bringing depth and complexity to the wines. Its alkaline limestone soils and unique microclimate produce structured and powerful reds. Renato Vacca produces wines from sustainably farmed vineyards located exclusively in the Barbaresco territory, including the famed Ovello, Gallina and Albesani cru vineyards.
The 2014 Barbaresco shows an intense ruby color with light berry aromas followed by notes of spice, tar and tobacco. The wine feels light and streamlined in terms of mouthfeel, yet it also delivers power, structure and length.
