Tomorrow's Wine
$89.99
Country: Spain
Region: Bierzo
Grape: Mencia
This is from an organically-farmed plot in Villegas on 100% sandy soils. This was the first single-vineyard they produced (the vineyard dates back to the end of the 19th century). Fruit is whole-cluster fermented, macerated for 60-90 days, and fermented with native yeasts in chestnut barrels. The wine is unfined and unfiltered.
This is serious and designed for the aging, subtle and elegant, with the profile of a grand cru, a touch of oak but with juicy tannins, excellent balance and impressive length.
The wine is juicy, earth-driven, with flavors of blackberries, black pepper, damp earth, and sweet spice.
