Mario Bagella is a second generation winemaker whose family has been growing grapes on Sardina for over 75 years. His father was the first to start bottling wines from the family property in the early 80's. Their winery and vineyards are in the town of Sorso, in close proximity to the ocean. Sorso also means sip in Italian.
The Bagella's farm roughly 12.5 acres in Sorso on land that overlooks the sea. Their vines are on average 80-90 years old. The age of the vines provides a complexity to the wines not seen in others from the area. Mario oversaw the recent conversion from conventional farming to organic. The soils are comprised of sand and clay.
A medium-bodied red with structured tannins and generous fruit. Notes of dark berries, black cherry plum, cranberry, and white pepper.
