Grape: Pinot Noir/Zinfandel
This 2022 Vin de California Pet-Nat highlights a blend of organically farmed vineyards along the coast. Warmer days help the grapes achieve phenolic ripening while cool evening breezes retain freshness. The Zinfandel is sourced from Komrosky Vineyard and the Pinot Noir from a new vineyard in the Madson portfolio, Marine Terrace. Perched above Watsonville, this vineyard rests on a terrace of ancient marine sandstone soils.
At harvest, fruit is pressed to extract limited color and phenolics. Fermentation occurred spontaneously and naturally. The wine is bottled with natural sugars still present for effervescence and “sans soufre” (without sulfur).
This wine has immense depth, with a tropical burst on the nose. Notes of guava, salted watermelon and strawberry, with fresh acidity on the palate.
