Les Maison Brûlées, founded by Michel & Beatrice Augé, was one of the very first biodynamic cooperatives in France. Now owned by Paul & Corinne Gillet, it has been a Certified Biodynamic farm for over 30 years. The grapes are vinified with their natural yeasts, and fermentations are slow, giving complexity to the wines. The wines are not fined or filtered, and are bottled by gravity. No additives are used at all, including sulfur.
Fruit comes from 40 year old vines from the renowned site “le Herdeleau.” Soils are rich in limestone-clay, silex & fossils. Aromas of dark berries and spice, with pretty floral and herbal notes. Soft and full on the palate, with a creamy texture and lots of dark fruits, black plums and cherries. The tannins are soft, and the wine still has plenty of freshness and minerality.
