Type: Red Wine
Grape: Pineau d'Aunis
Jean-Christophe is new to the winemaking world, having just released his first vintage (a pét-nat rosé) in 2019. For years he has grown organic grapes on his beautiful property in Faverolles-sur-Cher, overlooking the Cher river and sold them to winemakers in the surrounding area. Before going off on his own, Jean-Christophe staged with Pascal and Moses of Les Capriades, Hervé Villemade, and Jerome Lenoir.
This wine comes from some of Jean-Christophe's oldest vines, between 80-100 years old. 15-day whole-cluster maceration (no punchdowns) in tank before pressing and racking into neutral barrique and demi-muid for one year.
Translucent in the glass, alive and and energetic, with a distinctive peppery note, vibrant acidity and a sour cherry quality.
