Grape: Pinot Noir/Pinot Meunier/Chardonnay
Jacquesson is small producer based in Dizy, Champagne, founded in 1798 by Memmie Jacquesson. The 28-hectare domaine comprises 11 hectares in Avize and Oiry, 13 hectares spread over Aÿ, Hautvillers, Dizy and Mareuil-su-Aÿ and a further 4 hectares in the Vallée de l'Ardre (a tributary of the Vesle, north-west of the Marne). Their wines are made using 78% of grapes from their own estate, with the rest of the fruit purchased from growers they know well.
Current owners, brothers, Jean-Hervé and Laurent Chiquet place a huge emphasis on the quality of the vineyards. Recently methods have changed to be organic, and almost all Jacquesson wines ferment in old, large-sized oak barrels, which yield little wood aroma to the wine.
Distinct grapefruit and ripe apple flavors with notes of both toasty oak and creamy pastries, all very well balanced with underlying freshness from the acidity.
