This wine has an unusually fine mousse and terrific elegance, fruit and stony salinity. This is Sélèque’s flagship wine, representing all seven communes where Jean-Marc grows vines. It is sourced from the domaine’s younger vines, averaging 40 years of age. Half the blend is reserve wine, which is a perpetual reserve, aged in barrel. The base wine (2015 base vintage for this wine) is made predominately in steel; aged on its lees for 20 months.
Lovely aromatic complexity, with apple, pear, Pinot Meunier floral tones, brioche, chalky minerality, almond and a gently smoky topnote. On the palate, the wine is crisp, full-bodied and complex, with fine focus and grip, and a long, well-balanced yet still youthful finish.
