Regnie is a kind of off-the-beaten-path region in Beaujolais. Georges Descombes organically farms his fifteen hectares of vines. Grapes are hand-harvested in whole clusters and fermented with natural yeasts in a cold semi-carbonic maceration (traditional in Beaujolais). Minimal sulfur is used at bottling.

Juicy, with lean minerality and fresh acidity. Cherry and dark berry aromas, along with musky earth and dried violet. On the palate, bitter cherry and black currant flavors lead into a long, smoke-tinged finish. Delicious with a light chill.
