Domaine des Marnes Blanches 5 Btl Set - 8th Anniversary TOFINO WINES

Domaine des Marnes Blanches was started by Jura natives Pauline & Géraud Fromont in Cesancey, in the Southern Jura, when they were in their early twenties. Named after the area’s most illustrious soil type, they make a wide variety of styles, from ouillé Chardonnay’s to oxidative Savagnins, and ethereal reds. They are Ecocert certified, work with all native yeast, and parcels are vinified separately and aged in either stainless steel or neutral cask. Sulfuring is minimal. The Fromonts make highly sought-after wines that are clean, pure and vibrant.

Savagnin en Jensillard 2020: Notes of Fino sherry, fresh lemon and green almonds. This wine has an impeccable balance of intensity and saline mineral 

Chardonnay en Quatre Vis 2019: Crisp lemon, pear and green melon, with notes of minerals and salty sea and a vibrant palate with great acidity.

Poulsard 2020: 100% whole bunch fermentation for 10 days in stainless steel tanks. Unfiltered, with minimal sulfur added. A lively, chillable, fresh and energetic light red wine. 

Vin de Paille 2014: Vin de Paille literally means straw wine, referring to the traditional practice of drying the grapes in boxes lined with straw mats prior to pressing. Pauline and Géraud make theirs with a blend of Savagnin, Chardonnay, and Poulsard and allow them to raisin over the course of five months before a long pressing. The wine is then aged 36 months. Notes of brown sugar, dried figs, stewed black cherries, tea, cardamom, and a piquant, briny quality. Though it has quite a bit of residual sugar, the acidity keeps this wine from being overly sweet. 375ml

Vin Jaune 2014: Aged in 10 to 20 year-old barrels, stored on the first floor of Pauline and Géraud’s house with windows opened to the elements throughout the year, this wine was bottled after almost 7 years sous voile. An elegant, forward style of Vin Jaune, with excellent fruit that is not masked by the oxidative notes. 620ml
