Type: Red Wine
The wines of Valtellina display incredible freshness and lighter body compared to the better-known Piedmont nebbiolos. The high altitude and steepness of the its vineyards give Barbacan wines this nuance. For the purest expression, the Sega brothers use organic viticulture, only manual cultivation and minimal intervention in the winemaking process.
The grapes are fermented on skins for 3 months before being transferred to a mixture of chestnut and acacia barrels for 1 year, and is then transferred back to concrete to settle again for 9 months. Wild yeasts are used, and the wine is unfiltered with minimal added sulfur.
Red fruits, pretty flowers and spice on the nose. On the palate, this wine is lively and energetic, with fresh tannins.
