The wines of Valtellina display incredible freshness and lighter body compared to the better-known Piedmont nebbiolos. The high altitude and steepness of the its vineyards give Barbacan wines this nuance. For the purest expression, the Sega brothers use organic viticulture, only manual cultivation and minimal intervention in the winemaking process.
Grapes are grown organically in Valtellina, Northern Italy, on granitic soil and schist rock. Spontaneous fermentation. Aged in stainless. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered, with no added sulfites.
Very elegant and medium-bodied, with aromas of violet and red fruits. Fine tannins on the palate, with notes of redcurrant, cherry and black pepper.
