This wine comes from the organically farmed Vare Vineyard at the base of Mt. Veeder, where the soils are deep, alluvial, and gravelly clay-loam. The site benefits from early afternoon shading, while daytime temperatures are moderated by proximity to the adjacent redwood-forested slopes of Mt. Veeder.
This wine was whole-cluster pressed, spontaneously fermented, and aged for 8 months in neutral oak. Tiny production. Elegant and ethereal, with fine minerality, with notes of wild flowers, pear and goosebery.
