Region: Sonoma
Type: Red Wine
Grape: Zinfandel/Petite Sirah/Carignane/Mataro
In 1972, Ridge made its first Lytton Springs from vines planted on the eastern half of the vineyard at the turn of the century. Both the eastern and western sections of the vineyard were purchased in the early 1990s. In the 1870s, under “Captain” William Litton’s ownership, the two sections comprised one property and the spelling evolved to “Lytton” by 1903. The vineyard is planted to Zinfandel and other complementary varietals.
Sustainably grown estate fruit. Hand harvested. Destemmed and fermented with native yeast. Aged 14 months in barrel. Minimal sulfur added.
This wine displays classic Ridge freshness and definition, with aromas of dried plums, roasted spices and red flowers, and a palate rich with red berries, plums and black licorice, leading into a long, complex finish.
