The fruit for Cerro Sur, one of Favia's proprietary wines, comes from a breathtaking mountaintop block of Cabernet Franc planted nearly 40 years ago on the famed Rancho Chimiles, high in the Vaca Mountains. The vines consistently produce wines of power, energy, balance and complexity. A long maceration on the skins, minimal racking, barrel aging for 22 months in French oak, and bottling without filtration or fining, help to capture the many nuances.

The 2013 Cerro Sur is deep, powerful and explosive, with notes of black cherry, smoke, mocha and licorice. Ample and generous on the palate, with dark red and black-fleshed fruit, iron, smoke and graphite leading into a long finish.
