Region: El Dorado County
Grape: Cabernet Franc
In 2018, winemaker Charlie Miller jumped at the opportunity to work with a couple tons of Cabernet Franc from Barsotti vineyard. The grapes were fermented native, 100% whole-cluster, and punched down twice a day with two bare feet. The wine was pressed gently to a combination of neutral oak and stainless steel barrels, and received no additives other than a small amount of sulfur. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
This light-bodied red wine smells like fresh-squeezed apples, leading into juicy, bright cranberry flavors, with delicate floral undertones and lingering, papery tannins. Despite its lightness, there’s not a hint of vegetal flavor here.
