Altos de Montanchez

Altos de Montanchez Vegas Altas Maceration 2020

no added sulfur

Country: Spain

Region: Extremadura

Type: Orange Wine

Grape: Pardina/Cayetana

Juan Sojo and Ángel Luis González established Cerro la Barca in 2003, quickly concentrating their efforts on the survival of lesser-known native varieties. Here, an equal blend of two native grapes from the Extremadura region of western Spain are skin-macerated in amphora for one month. The wine was then pressed and aged for an additional year in amphora. Sulfur additions during bottling were kept to a minimum.

Complex yet delicate, with citrus-centric aromas--orange blossom, orange peel, and fresh and preserved lemon, along with a touch of wildflower. On the palate, notes of white peach, dried orange rind, and fresh-cut grass. Refreshing acidity and soft tannic dryness. Allow a bit of time for this bottle to open up.
