Domaine Philippe Tessier

Domaine Philippe Tessier Cheverny Rouge 2020

no added sulfur

Country: France

Region: Loire

Type: Red Wine

Grape: Gamay/Pinot Noir/Côt

Located in the heart of the AOC Cheverny and Cour-Cheverny, the Tessier family estate is 23 hectares and planted on the famous route Chateaux de la Loire. Winemaker and owner, Philippe Tessier, took over the estate in 1981 from his father, Roger, who founded the winery 20 years earlier. The domaine has been Agriculture Biologique certified organic since 1998. The microclimate is influenced by the massive forests of Cheverny, Chambord and Sologne. The region's soil is comprised of sand, clay, limestone, as well as ancient marine sediment, and the vines are up to 90 years old. This wine undergoes a 15-day carbonic maceration, spontaneous fermentation in tanks with indigenous yeasts and very low sulfur.

The Pinot Noir brings spicy and floral notes as well as almond. The Gamay gives the wine intense red fruit flavors (strawberry, cherry, etc), and the Côt (Malbec) contributes to the structure and the frame. Fruity and refreshing with fine tannins.
