Moric was founded in 2002 by Roland Velich, who believed that the moderate climate and cool nights of Burgenland could make exceptional red wines from Blaufränkisch. Roland wanted to make wines that focused on elegance and finesse, rather than the powerful expressions of the grape that other winemakers were pursuing. He sought out old vines from some of Burgenland's top terroirs, and found them in Lutzmannsburh and Neckenmarkt. With vines up to 85 years old on schist and limestone soils and relatively high elevation, these parcels provide extremely high quality fruit and have helped to put Moric on the map as one of the benchmark producers of Blaufränkisch in Austria.

Moric Blaunfränkisch is fermented in large wooden vats with natural yeasts, then transfered to old French and Austrian oak barrels to age for one year before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Medium-deep purple with ruby highlights, this beautiful Blaunfränkisch is aromatically intense, delivering flavors of ripe berries, spice and earth, along with minerality, persistence and concentration.
