Eric Texier

Texier Cotes-du-Rhone Rouge Chat Fou 2019

no added sulfur

Country: France

Region: Rhône

Type: Red Wine

Grape: Grenache/Cinsault/Clairette/Viognier/Chasselas/other

From vines planted on a south-facing slope on granite and gneiss soils in the warm St-Julien en St-Alban zone (in the Ardèche on the northern bank of the Ouvèze--to the west of the Rhône River, at the southern edge of the northern Rhône Valley).

The fruit is organically farmed and the varieties co-harvested by hand. The bunches are partly de-stemmed, the rest pressed directly, and fermented with native yeasts in concrete tanks with a brief 5-day maceration and no sulfur; no extraction techniques are utitlized. The wine is aged in tank as well on the fine lees for 12-18 months; it is bottled without fining or filtration and very little sulfur.

A fresh, aromatic, light style of Côtes-du-Rhône.
