Country: Georgia

Type: Pet-Nat

Grape: Tsitska

The Gotsadze family wine tradition dates from the great grandfather of the current winemaker, Konstantin Gotsadze (1860-1940), who started making wine in his cellars in the village of Tskhratskharo, in Zestafoni district of Western Georgia. In the early 20th century the family moved to the capital, Tbilisi, and continued making traditional wines. The current cellars are in Kiketi, 1300 mt above sea level, in the very place where historical tradition says the Georgian Kings had their favorite wines vinified. The wine is made in clay amphoras called “Kvevri” or "Qvevri". The vineyards and winery follow “Demeter” standards and will be Certified Organic with the 2018 harvest. Gotsa's wines are native yeast fermented, unfined, and free of additives.

This wine is macerated and fermented skin and spends five weeks in qvevri. A fresh and light take on a Georgian orange but still clearly marked by skin contact. Exotic, complex and refreshing, with notes of honey and apricot.
